Clothes as Publishing Edition #4 1997
Pia MYrvoLD
The Osmosis collection, Edition #4 in the ‘Clothes as Publishing’ series, featured two different parts. The first half of the collection was comprised of classical tailoring and was presented poetically in a quiet courtyard without lighting or a soundtrack.
The second half of the collection was presented at a Paris nightclub. Myrvold only showed two interactive suits, and these would later serve as prototypes for her Female Interfaces performances.
‘ I brought the personalities of the models into the work, Myrvold explained. ‘Each one wore six sound and image loops and spoke into a wearable microphone as they described experiences associated with the themes of sensory memories and interfaces.’ The performance pushed the boundaries of fashion’s communicative properties even further, heralding a new way of receiving and processing information that illustrated Myrvold’s new information-based approach."
