Pia Myrvold Art Foundation
The Pia Myrvold Art Foundation (PMAF) was established in 2021 to preserve and promote Pia Myrvold's innovative artistry, with a particular emphasis on new media and technological art. The foundation aims to build a significant digital collection while enhancing the accessibility of Myrvold's works through digital innovation and effective communication.
Pia Myrvold has been a pioneer in new media art and hybrid art projects for over 30 years. Her diverse contributions have secured her a prominent position on the international stage, spanning various fields including textile art, fashion, design, and new media innovation.
The primary goal of the Pia Myrvold Art Foundation is to preserve and maintain important historical works, archives, and monumental pieces from Myrvold’s career. The foundation seeks to ensure that these significant works are included in public collections and made accessible to audiences in Norway and abroad.
A long-term objective of the foundation is to establish a permanent collection facility, ideally located in either Nord Jæren or the Oslo area. This initiative will further solidify Myrvold's legacy as a pioneering innovator.
The foundation's work and communication will reflect Myrvold’s status as an international trailblazer. In addition, the pioneering creativity and hybrid, culture-building work models developed by Myrvold will serve as an inspiration and guiding signal for new generations, benefiting them in the long term.
Development of a Virtual Museum in 3D/VR
A key initiative under the foundation is the development of a Virtual Museum that utilises 3D and VR technology. This project aims to create a digital museum where visitors can experience Myrvold's masterpieces as three-dimensional models in a virtual environment. This innovative approach will open new avenues for communicating and experiencing contemporary art, providing a lasting digital offering that can connect with audiences worldwide.
Art Friends PMAF
The foundation is responsible for the operation of Art Friends PMAF, an international friends association. Income generated from contingent and voluntary efforts, as well as donations, contributes to the funding and continuous operation of exhibitions, while also supporting projects aligned with the long-term goals of the organisation.
Art Friends PMAF operates with both local and international perspectives. The association will engage in art trips, exhibitions, lectures, performances, and an annual artist ball. Members will receive discounts on works and editions sold through the foundation, as well as on acquisitions available through PMAF’s exhibitions and web gallery.
